Lada Adverts

Two adverts from 1991 for Lada cars. Both feature Tommy asking why you’d choose risky second-hand motoring rather than a new Lada, while Bobby is dressed risque.

Full-length advert. Bobby sidles round the set once he realises he’s misunderstood the word as risque.

Tommy: I’m here to tell you about risky motoring.

Bobby: Me too, Tommy. Me too. This is risque. This is risque. Make them have it, Tommy lad.

Tommy: Some people risk buying a used car when they could quite easily afford a brand new Lada. You can drive away any new Lada for only £99 deposit typical APR 19.5. Did you know that, Bobby?

Bobby: No. No, I didn’t. No, no.

Tommy: Well you do now

Bobby: Oh, yes..

Tommy: Yes, for only £99 a month. And you know what else, Bobby?

Bobby: What’s that, Tommy?

Tommy: You’re covered.

Bobby: I’m not, you know.

Tommy: Yes, you are. Your payments are covered against accidents, sickness, redundancy and you even get free life insurance. And no need to risk third party insurance either. You get one year’s fully comprehensive insurance for only £99 and they’re guaranteed for two years or 50,000 miles. So there you have it. Nothing can go wrong. Can it, Bobby?

Voiceover: Don’t expose yourself to unnecessary risks. Buy a brand new Lada and make sure you’re covered.

Tommy: You’ve ruined it, haven’t you?

Bobby: I thought you said risqué, Tommy,  I thought you said risqué
