Luton Carol Aid

December 9th 1988 at Kenilworth Road

Welcome to Luton Carol Aid 1989

You are taking part tonight in the largest carol event of its kind in the country. During the evening you will be drawn into a party atmosphere of celebration, fun and laughter. As the evening proceeds we will be singing carols and reminding ourselves of the Christmas story. We will have the chance to give a Christmas present from the people of Luton to those less fortunate than ourselves and a chance to remind ourselves that the best Christmas present of all is Jesus. We take this opportunity to thank Bobby Ball and his Christian and Charity Affairs Manager, Dave Berry of Servants Arts Trust for joining us on this festive occasion. We also thank all our sponsors for their support without which Carol Aid could not take place. We thank you all for coming and supporting us tonight and we wish you a really happy Christmas.

Julia Stewart, regional organiser of NSPCC said: ‘We are delighted to have been chosen to benefit from the proceeds of the concert. It is a marvellous idea and the support that we are receiving through the help of churches and families strengthens the links of our work in helping families and children. Particularly as next year will see the opening of the NSPCC Protection Team in Luton.’

BOBBY’S MESSAGE

Bobby Ball: “I had never heard of Carol Aid until a few weeks ago, but it seems very exciting. Last year’s event sounds as if it was marvellous, this year should be even better. I’ve really been looking forward to being with you tonight. We will have a few laughs and I can tell you a bit about what Christ means to me. It will be a great night.”
