Cannon and Ball appeared on Tiswas, Saturday 6th December 1980.
They featured in a sketch where Chris Tarrant pulled on Bobby’s ‘Magic Braces’.
As he pulls the braces he gets further and further from the TV studio, down the street and boarding a bus.
Eventually the braces pull Chris back to the studio, where he reappears with crutch and leg in a cast.
Script
Bobby: These are magic.
Chris: These are magic.
Bobby: These are magic.
Chris: See, these are just ordinary.
Bobby: No, they’re not like this. These are magic.
Chris: You told me these were extra powerful.
Bobby: No, these are magic. Look, I’ll show you. Right. Pull them. Pull them. Right. Round there. Pull them. Go on, pull them. Go on, pull them. Not too much. Pull them. Pull them. Go on, pull. Go on, see how magic they are.
(Chris pulls the braces outside the building before returning)
Bobby: See, they’re magic these. They’re magic.
Chris: You’re right. They’re very powerful.
Bobby: I know that.
Tommy: You’ve not been showing him your braces again, have you?
Bobby: Well, he said they weren’t magic.
Tommy: Well, they look as though they were magic to me. Pretty good, that.
Bobby: You look fantastic. Want another pull?
Chris: No, thank you. Tommy: Forget it.
Bobby: Come on, have another pull. Well I thought they were marvellous. Very nice.
Summer Season 1980
During summer 1980, Cannon and Ball headlined Blackpool North Pier. Also on the bill was Lenny Henry, one of the stars of Tiswas. A brief segment saw Chris Tarrant interviewing Lenny about the season from the end of the pier, however the clip did not feature Tommy or Bobby themselves.
